It\u00b4s like watching the world through cameras with different lenses: the neurotypical lance is the one of a normal smartphone while the neurodivergent has not only a high definition camera to make zoom from miles away, it has also a thermal sensor included.<\/p><p>When neurodivergent persons can perceive that many details it can be overwhelming and the exercise to try to describe all the details in an observation can be even more excruciating, if taken literally, becomes a great challenge.<\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: var(--font-size-b2); font-family: var(--font-primary);\">Making an observation helps to deactivate the amygdala and to be able to be in a space that allows you to relax, a place where the brain feels safe to share it with other, so when interacting with neurodivergent persons it is important to first ensure a space that feels safe. If you are neurodivergent or someone you love is, there are a series of gadgets that help to reduce stimuli. It is important to have a safe person or to be a safe person that understands the overstimulation to be able to help to find shared realities.<\/span><\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6622 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/karlamozzo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/NV2-300x200.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karlamozzo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/NV2-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/karlamozzo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/NV2.webp 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>In my case, reducing the stimuli is the first step to be able to get out of survival mode and to connect with myself.
